Chapter Seven

The Escape

I could hear Bawss talking, but I knew it wasn’t Turk. I knew his pre-adolescent voice that cracked when he spoke anywhere, and it wasn’t him downstairs bargaining with Bawss. However, the voice was familiar, but I couldn’t place it.

I quickly dressed and sat on the bed waiting for whatever torture I was about to be subjected to next. Moments later, my room door flew open and Bawss was there; but as I suspected, he wasn’t with Turk. Instead, he was with Los. I guess he was back to claim the money he paid Tori, and knowing Bawss, he wasn’t about to give the money back, so he was going to give me to him instead.

Bawss slapped Los on his back. “Have fun. She’s nice and clean for you,” he laughed. I lowered my head in shame. I knew none of this was my fault, but I felt low.

Bawss exited the room and left me alone with Los who looked at me with pity. “Are you aight, shawty?” Los questioned me when he saw the look of fear on my face. Although he didn’t look threatening, I knew he was there for a reason and I didn’t know what kind of sick shit he was into. He could have been like Turk, or worse still, he could have been sadistic like Bawss and there was no telling what he would do to me.

When Los crossed the room and sat down next to me on the edge of the bed, I flinched; afraid of what he would do to me. I had gotten so used to the men coming and going and doing whatever they pleased to me that I thought that Los would do the same. Surprisingly, he didn’t try anything. Instead, he took my hand in his and stroked the back of my hand.

“Whoa, baby girl, I ain’t gonna hurt you. I only came back because after seeing you a few days back, I knew something was wrong. I came back for you. I don’t know why I’m even getting myself involved with whatever Bawss and Tori got going on in this house, but my conscious was telling me you didn’t belong here,” Los said in barely a whisper.

I looked up into the stranger’s eyes and searched them to see if he was telling the truth and I didn’t see any reason not to believe that he wasn’t sincere.

“Please, help me,” I begged. “I can’t take anymore,” I cried.

“I knew you didn’t belong here. I don’t know how we’re gonna get you out of here, but I’m gonna think of something, shawty. Seeing you here a few days back left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I knew something wasn’t right with it,” Los said sympathetically.

I didn’t know what else to do, but I fell into his arms and cried until I couldn’t cry anymore. “Thank you. I will do whatever you need me to do if you can get me out of here,” I sobbed uncontrollably.
